Art Teacher - Thriving School in Reading
A thriving and creative 11–18 school in Reading is seeking a passionate Art Teacher to join their successful Visual Arts Department from January 2026. This full-time, permanent role offers the chance to teach in an inspiring and supportive environment that promotes both artistic freedom and academic rigour.
The successful candidate will teach Art & Design across KS3–KS5, guiding students in painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, and digital design. You will support GCSE and A-Level students in developing sophisticated portfolios, while encouraging individuality and experimentation in visual expression. The department has a rich tradition of hosting exhibitions, gallery partnerships, and national art competitions, all of which you will have the opportunity to contribute to.
The Art Department occupies spacious, naturally lit studios, digital design suites, and specialist workspaces for ceramics and photography. The school values the arts as an integral part of a balanced education and is deeply committed to nurturing creativity, reflection, and confidence in its students.
Teachers are supported through ongoing professional development, mentorship programmes, and freedom to innovate within the curriculum. The leadership team actively encourages artistic projects that connect students with the local community, galleries, and cultural institutions.
Experience and Qualifications:
• QTS/PGCE and degree in Art & Design or Fine Art
• Proven experience teaching GCSE and A-Level desirable
• Strong creative and technical skillset
• Passion for student development through visual and creative education
