Location

Job Advert

This is a compelling opportunity to join a specialist team at the forefront of tackling Fraud and Economic Crime across the South East.

The Proactive Economic Crime Team (PECT) works collaboratively with regional forces, other ROCUs and the City of London Police to deliver proactive disruption of individuals and organised networks involved in fraud and economic crime.

Fraud and Economic Crime are recognised within the Government’s strategy to tackle serious and organised crime.

This role offers the chance to be part of a regional capability specifically established to maximise disruption against complex criminal networks. With a strong emphasis on proactive operational activity, you will directly address one of the highest-volume crime types affecting the UK, impacting millions of victims each year, including businesses and vulnerable and repeat victims.

The successful candidate will bring solid investigative experience, including the use of proactive and disruptive tactics, and experience as Officer in the Case through the court process.

While previous experience in economic crime investigations is desirable, it is not essential. We are seeking determined, thorough and well-organised investigators who can effectively exploit intelligence opportunities to drive a proactive policing approach, including arrests, search warrants and covert and overt tactics.

You will be an enthusiastic and committed team player, capable of progressing investigations efficiently and working closely with partner agencies and internal teams to achieve tangible results.

The team forms part of a wider ROCU network, supporting local, regional and national proactive operations against organised crime groups involved in economic crime. Working closely with the City of London Police as the national lead force for fraud, you will develop and exploit intelligence opportunities to identify offenders and bring them swiftly to justice.

Applicants must be a qualified Detective Constable, PIP Level 2 accredited, and trained to Tier 2 Serious and Complex suspect and witness interview standard.

The role also provides excellent opportunities for professional development, including specialist training in fraud and economic crime, alongside access to wider specialist policing skills and development pathways.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level SC together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.

You can find more information about security vetting here.
