Behaviour Support Assistant
Do you have the resilience, patience and confidence to support young people who need extra guidance and structure? We are supporting a specialist school in Reading that works with pupils with Autism, SEMH and additional behavioural needs. The school is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to help students build confidence, manage emotions and engage positively with learning. This is a hands-on, rewarding role where no two days are the same, and where you’ll make a genuine difference to young people who benefit from consistent support and positive role models. The Role As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils
- Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour strategies
- Help pupils remain engaged in learning and daily routines
- Work closely with teachers and pastoral teams
- Support a calm and structured learning environment
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students
- Youth work or mentoring
- Care or residential support
- SEMH or behaviour support roles
- Sports coaching / fitness / active roles
- Police, military or security
- Psychology or education graduates
- Calm and patient approach
- Confident managing challenging situations
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Positive, proactive and team-focused
- Passionate about supporting young people
- Supportive and experienced school environment
- Training and development opportunities
- Great experience for careers in education, psychology or youth support
