Senior Manager - Audit of Tax
Bristol or Reading | Hybrid Working An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Manager to join a growing Audit of Tax team, based in either Bristol or Reading. This role offers the chance to work with a broad and diverse client base while playing a key role in the delivery and development of high‑quality tax services. The RoleAs a Senior Manager within the team, you will operate at the centre of the tax and audit function, working closely with audit teams, tax specialists and senior stakeholders. The role combines technical expertise with leadership, client engagement and project management responsibilities.
You will work with clients across a wide range of sectors and sizes, from fast‑growing entrepreneurial businesses to large and complex listed and multinational groups. This will give you exposure to a variety of tax profiles and risk environments, providing both challenge and breadth.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and reviewing audit of tax engagements, including complex tax provisions and disclosures
* Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as a key point of contact for audit and tax matters
* Advising clients on technical tax issues and developments affecting tax reporting
* Working collaboratively with audit, tax and advisory teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes
* Identifying opportunities to enhance audit quality, efficiency and client service
* Leading, coaching and developing team members to build technical capability and confidence
* Managing engagement economics including billing, recoveries and cash collection
* Ensuring compliance with internal quality control procedures and risk management standards
About You
You will be an experienced corporate tax professional with a strong technical grounding and the ability to operate confidently in a client‑facing leadership role.
You are likely to have:
* Deep and up‑to‑date knowledge of UK taxation with the ability to address complex tax accounting and reporting issues
* Experience managing and delivering audit of tax engagements for a varied client portfolio
* A strong understanding of tax risk, governance and controls within audit environments
* Proven experience leading teams and managing complex projects
* The confidence to work closely with Directors and Partners on high‑profile engagements
Qualifications and experience:
* Educated to degree level
* CTA and/or ACA qualified (or equivalent)
* Significant experience gained within professional practice
