Programme Manager
Hybrid working arrangement: 3 days per week on site (Reading or Glasgow)
We are looking for an experienced Programme Manager . In this role you will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of a major engineered programme involving complex physical products and systems. You will manage multi‑disciplinary teams, oversee manufacturing and integration activities, and ensure delivery to demanding cost, schedule and quality targets. Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and a proven track record in delivering large-scale engineered solutions are essential.

Optronics & Missile Electronics (OME)
We help forces to find the right information at the right time to make the right decision. For over 130 years we’ve proudly led the development of Optronics for military, scientific and commercial use. We cover three sectors: Air, Land and Sea.
Main Responsibilities:
Lead multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver engineered and physical outputs on time, on budget and to the required quality.
Oversee the full delivery lifecycle, including manufacturing, integration, deployment and in‑service support.
Manage programme baselines, budgets, risks, opportunities and change control.
Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal delivery functions.
Provide clear progress updates at senior reviews and drive alignment across engineering, production and commercial teams.
Ideal Experience & Skills:
Proven experience delivering complex physical programmes involving engineered systems or manufactured products.
Practical knowledge of working in industries such as aerospace, defence, transportation, critical infrastructure, or comparable product/system-based sectors.
Strong leadership of large, multi‑disciplinary teams across engineering, production and procurement, through every delivery stage; from design and manufacture to deployment and operational support.
Excellent customer and supplier management skills with the ability to resolve delivery challenges.
Solid understanding of planning, baselines, financial control, KPIs and risk management.
Ability to work effectively in a complex, multi‑site environment with strong communication and commercial awareness.
Security Clearance Requirement:
Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment.
To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
