An academically rigorous secondary school in Reading requires a highly capable Science Technician committed to providing essential practical support and maintaining a safe laboratory environment from January 2026.

The role involves providing comprehensive technical support to the Science teaching team (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) across KS3–KS5. Key duties include preparing essential practical equipment and materials for lessons, ensuring the safe storage and disposal of chemicals/materials, maintaining apparatus, and undertaking basic administrative tasks for the department. You will be instrumental in the smooth running of the school's well-equipped laboratories.
Experience and Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualification or a degree in a Science subject (Chemistry background highly desirable).
- Proven experience working in a school or industrial laboratory setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly regarding safety regulations.
- Familiarity with COSHH regulations and safe handling of chemicals.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team.
