Creative Artworker - Packaging (18 Month Fixed- Term Contract)

We are seeking a talented Creative Artworker with a strong interest in packaging and labelling design to join Primark’s in‑house design team in Reading on an 18‑month fixed‑term contract. Working within a small, collaborative studio and reporting to the Packaging Design Manager, you’ll use your initiative to deliver high‑quality, print‑ready artwork at pace. The role involves supporting compliance updates, range extensions, and fast‑tracked design rollouts, while working closely with designers, packaging coordinators, and wider creative teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and exceptional production standards across all outputs. What You’ll Do as a Creative Artworker: In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day: It’s Create accurate packaging and labelling artwork, prepare final layouts on cutter guides, and ensure all files are print ready, supplier friendly, consistent, and guideline compliant. Adapt and update artwork to meet business and compliance requirements, including RFID rollout, local market updates, and redesign changes. Update and maintain Primark’s Core Packaging & Labelling manuals and correctly archive all packaging artwork. Support the Design team by thoroughly checking and art working outputs, creating considered back of pack/label layouts, and executing range extensions from existing designs. Deliver high quality, accurately executed artwork while managing multiple projects simultaneously under short deadlines and fast turnaround times. Liaising closely with Designers, Packaging Coordinators, wider creative teams, and the B&M team to ensure alignment and smooth workflow. Here are some of the experiences and skills you’ll need for the role: Hold a design degree (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ artwork/graphic design experience, ideally including packaging and labelling artwork; strong Mac-based Adobe Creative Suite skills (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and desirable iconography/visualisation abilities. Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency, with the ability to analyse large volumes of data while also maintaining a high level overview. Highly organised, capable of prioritising and multitasking in a fast paced environment, meeting tight deadlines, and operating with a proactive, “can do” attitude. Possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the emotional intelligence to collaborate, influence, coach, and professionally push back when required; able to build effective relationships at all levels. Display high integrity, confidentiality, diplomacy, tact, sound judgement, and commercial awareness, coupled with an innovative and creative mindset and an interest in fashion (fashion retail experience preferred). Able to work both independently and within a creative studio team, upholding strong planning/organisation skills, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information, and operating with transparency, professionalism, and trust.
