About the role
As a Senior SEN Case Officer, you will oversee the end‑to‑end statutory assessment and review process, ensuring that children and young people with SEND receive high‑quality, outcome‑focused Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Your responsibilities will include:

- Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with parents/carers, schools, health professionals and partner agencies.
- Delivering and supporting training for professionals, including SENCO networks and EHCP learning events.
- Deputising for the SEN Team Manager when required.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is motivated, organised and committed to making a difference.
You will bring:
- Experience with managing a SEN caseload in a Local Authority or educational setting.
- Strong understanding of SEN legislation including the Children and Families Act and the SEN Code of Practice.
- Knowledge of a range of SEND needs and related multi‑agency roles.
- Knowledge of multi‑agency processes and the ability to lead effective multi‑agency meetings.
- Confidence in leading meetings, handling challenging situations and managing negotiations.
You’ll be part of a team that relies on each individual to play their part to the best of their ability. As well as the colleagues that you work closely with every day, you’ll also be part of Team Reading, playing your personal part in making Reading a successful and vibrant place.

Our offer
We offer a supportive environment to grow and develop your career with the opportunity to put your ideas across. Innovation and ambition is strongly encouraged, and you’ll get a great feel for that working in our friendly and collaborative environment.
A competitive salary alongside a range of benefits including:
- Generous holiday entitlement - 25 days holiday each year plus bank holidays - rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service and 33 days after 10 years' service, with the option to buy additional leave
