School Business Manager (SBM) – Leading Secondary School – Reading

We are seeking an experienced and strategic School Business Manager to join a leading secondary school in Reading. This is a senior leadership role, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to the operational and financial success of a high-performing school.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the school’s business operations, including finance, HR, facilities and administrative services. You will work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to ensure the effective management of resources and the delivery of high-quality support services.
This role requires strong leadership skills, financial expertise and the ability to manage multiple priorities. You will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the school and ensuring that it operates efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead on financial management, budgeting and reporting
• Oversee HR, recruitment and staff management processes
• Manage school facilities and operations
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
• Support strategic planning and decision-making
• Line manage administrative and support staff
Requirements
• Relevant qualification in business management, finance or related field
• Experience in a senior administrative or leadership role
• Strong financial and organisational skills
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities
• Ability to work strategically and operationally
• Experience in a school setting (desirable)
