EYFS Teaching Assistant - Reading

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Reading. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young children during the most important stage of their development and helping them build strong foundations for future learning.
The successful candidate will work closely with the EYFS teaching team to support children across the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. You will assist with whole-class activities, small group learning, and one-to-one support, helping children develop communication, language, social, and emotional skills. A strong emphasis will be placed on supporting learning through play and structured activities.
You will help to create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing learning environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and confidence. Observing and recording children’s progress will form part of your role, supporting assessment and planning processes led by the class teacher.
Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential, as you will work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure each child feels supported and valued. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for early childhood education are key qualities for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the delivery of the EYFS curriculum
Work with individuals and small groups to support learning and development
Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
Observe and record children’s progress
Support children’s personal, social, and emotional development
Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources
Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
The successful candidate will have:
Experience working with young children, ideally within an EYFS setting
Knowledge of early childhood development
A caring, calm, and patient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to safeguarding and child wellbeing
