A respected independent school in Southwark is seeking an experienced and proactive Premises Manager to lead the maintenance, safety and operational management of the school estate. This is a key role in ensuring that pupils, staff and visitors benefit from a safe, secure and well-presented environment.

About the Role

The Premises Manager will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of buildings, grounds and site services. Working closely with senior leadership, the postholder will oversee maintenance programmes, contractor management, compliance and health & safety across the campus.

You will lead and support the premises team while helping the school maintain high standards expected within an independent setting.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Managing the operation, maintenance and development of school buildings and grounds.

• Leading and supervising premises staff, allocating duties and monitoring performance.

• Overseeing planned and reactive maintenance and small project works.

• Managing contractors and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.

• Taking responsibility for health & safety systems, risk assessments and site security.

• Supporting school events, lettings and out-of-hours activities.

• Monitoring budgets and ensuring value for money.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in estates, facilities or site management, ideally within education or a similar environment.

• Strong knowledge of health & safety and statutory compliance.

• Proven ability to manage contractors and prioritise workloads.

• Good leadership and communication skills.

• Practical understanding of building maintenance and site operations.

• Ability to respond to emergencies and work flexibly where required.

• Legal right to work in the UK.
