The Role

The successful candidate will:

• Teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in both English Language and English Literature

• Inspire students to develop confidence in reading, writing and critical analysis

• Support students of all abilities through well-structured and differentiated lessons

• Monitor progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to support improvement

• Prepare students for GCSE English Language and Literature examinations

• Contribute to the development of schemes of work and departmental resources

• Support enrichment opportunities such as reading clubs, theatre visits or writing competitions

• Play an active role in the pastoral life of the school, including form tutoring

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who:

• Holds (or is working towards) Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Has a degree in English or a related subject

• Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and a passion for English

• Is eager to develop their teaching practice as an Early Career Teacher

• Has high expectations for student achievement and behaviour

• Is reflective, motivated and committed to ongoing professional development

• Works well as part of a supportive and collaborative team
