Social Impact Advisor
About the role
To lead on the delivery of social impact initiatives across one or more projects, ensuring activities meet client expectations, local needs, and the Building New Futures strategy. This role works closely with project teams, partners, and communities to coordinate activity, engage stakeholders, and report on progress.
What you'll be doing
- Support the delivery of social impact action plans across assigned projects, ensuring activity aligns with the Building New Futures strategy and client commitments.
- Coordinate the day-to-day planning and delivery of events, activities, or workshops involving communities, schools, or partners.
- Help develop Social Impact Action plans by contributing local insight and supporting delivery teams.
- Carry out associated needs analysis and align with client requirements and/or Government policy on progressive procurement for the relevant location as required.
- Assist with logistics, scheduling, and materials for community events, education sessions, or engagement activities.
- Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including site teams, schools, colleges, community groups, and VCSE organisations. (3rd sector in Scotland).
- Engage local supply chain, identifying opportunities for working collaboratively to coordinate opportunities such as apprenticeships, volunteering, or work experience.
- Represent the project in community facing activities.
- Maintain awareness of internal and supply chain apprenticeship opportunities, supporting outreach and referrals where relevant.
Who we're looking for
- Experience supporting the delivery of community, education, social impact, or volunteering initiatives.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage tasks, coordinate stakeholders, and support delivery plans effectively.
- Understanding of how community needs, local priorities, or client expectations shape project delivery.
- Awareness of relevant legislation and regulation to support delivery of client commitments.
- Confident communicator, able to engage with schools, community groups, site teams, and supply chain partners in a professional and approachable way.
- Able to build trusted relationships and adapt communication to different audiences.
- Experience working directly with members of the public or local communities is desirable.
- Enthusiastic team member, willing to contribute ideas, ask questions, and learn from others.
- Proactive in sharing updates and collaborating with colleagues across projects or functions.
- Comfortable using digital tools to input and track data, or willing to learn.
- Awareness of local issues such as employment, skills gaps, or community needs.
- Attention to detail when recording, reporting, or communicating social impact outcomes.
- Able to write short case studies or updates to share with others, with support.
- Interest in innovation, continuous improvement, and community engagement.
- Be comfortable with an advanced security clearance.
