Workshop Controller

Our client is seeking a highly experienced HGV Workshop Controller to oversee their busy workshop in Reading.

This position requires a professional with proven leadership within a commercial vehicle environment, committed to delivering high standards of service, safety, and operational efficiency. The successful HGV Workshop Controller will play a pivotal part in managing workshop operations, motivating the team, and ensuring profitability.

Benefits:

Salary up to £43,000 per annum plus performance-related bonus
Monday to Friday (41 hours) with one Saturday morning per month

Lead and motivate the workshop team to meet productivity and quality standards as the HGV Workshop Controller
Allocate work efficiently among technicians to optimise productivity and profitability
Drive workshop revenue by maximising labour hours sold and promoting value-added services
Manage workshop resources, equipment calibration, and ensure compliance with safety regulations
Maintain strong communication with parts, warranty, and service teams to ensure parts availability
Oversee documentation accuracy and uphold warranty standards
Promote a safe working environment, supporting audits and ISO standards
Foster team development through coaching, training, and performance management
Support customer service by liaising directly with clients when necessaryRequirements:

Proven experience as an HGV Workshop Controller or in a similar supervisory role within a commercial vehicle workshop
Strong leadership and organisational skills, with previous managerial experience preferred
Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to heavy vehicle workshops
Familiarity with HGV systems, processes, and industry best practices
Flexible, proactive, and capable of handling multiple priorities
