English Graduate – Learning Support Assistant

Location: Reading
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-time (term-time only), Fixed-term / Permanent

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Graduate to join our school as a Learning Support Assistant, supporting students within the classroom environment. This role is ideal for a recent graduate considering a future career in teaching, education, or educational psychology.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to help students access the curriculum, build confidence in mathematics, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

* Supporting students during maths lessons, both one-to-one and in small groups
* Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
* Helping students understand mathematical concepts and complete set work
* Providing additional support to pupils with special educational needs (SEN) or learning difficulties
* Encouraging student engagement, confidence, and positive behaviour
* Preparing learning materials and supporting differentiated activities
* Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff

Requirements:

* A degree in English (or a closely related subject)
* A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
* Strong communication skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
* Ability to work effectively as part of a classroom team
* Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential
