About the Role
As the Year 3 Class Teacher , you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across the curriculum, ensuring pupils make a smooth and successful transition into Key Stage 2. You will focus on consolidating key skills in literacy and numeracy while nurturing independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.
You will plan engaging and inclusive lessons that meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and EAL. Working closely with teaching assistants, KS2 colleagues, and senior leaders, you will assess pupil progress and implement targeted support where necessary.
This role is ideal for an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher looking to develop strong Key Stage 2 practice within a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities as a Year 3 Teacher will include:
• Planning and delivering high-quality lessons across the Year 3 curriculum
• Supporting pupils’ transition from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2
• Teaching reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and mathematics effectively
• Creating a calm, inclusive, and well-structured classroom environment
• Assessing, tracking, and monitoring pupil progress
• Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all pupils
• Promoting positive behaviour, independence, and resilience
• Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
• Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and colleagues
• Building strong relationships with parents and carers
• Contributing to staff meetings, planning sessions, and CPD
• Upholding safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The school is seeking a Year 3 Teacher who demonstrates:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2
• Strong understanding of the Year 3 curriculum and KS2 expectations
• High expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour
• Excellent classroom management and organisation
• A nurturing, consistent, and reflective approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
Desirable but not essential:
• Experience supporting pupils during transition phases
• Experience working in a diverse school community
