We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering project based in Reading. This is a high-impact role on a major infrastructure scheme, offering a competitive day rate and the opportunity to work with an established and forward-thinking contractor.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for key elements of a large-scale civils project. You will play a crucial role in ensuring financial control, maximising value, and supporting delivery teams to achieve project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial aspects of the project lifecycle
• Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts and subcontracts
• Monitor project costs, forecasts, and budgets
• Identify and manage risks, opportunities, and variations
• Lead on valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
• Provide strategic commercial advice to the project team
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (essential)
• Demonstrated ability to manage large infrastructure or civils packages
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related field
• Professional membership (e.g., RICS) is desirable but not essential
