ASAP Start – Full-Time Position
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with their mental health and emotional wellbeing?
A nurturing and inclusive SEN and SEMH school in Spencer’s Wood is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Assistant to join their supportive team. This full-time role involves working with pupils aged 5 to 16 who present with Autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma-related needs, and behavioural challenges.
This Mental Health Assistant opportunity is ideal for graduates in Psychology, Counselling, Education, or Criminology, as well as individuals looking to gain hands-on experience before progressing into careers in Clinical Psychology, Therapy, Social Work, or Teaching.
Key Details:
* Role: Mental Health Assistant
* Location: Spencer’s Wood
* Salary: £89–£100 per day
* Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
* Start Date: ASAP
As a Mental Health Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small group emotional and academic support
* Help pupils develop coping and emotional regulation strategies
* Support behaviour management using positive and therapeutic approaches
* Build safe, trusting relationships with students
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external mental health professionals
This Mental Health Assistant role offers invaluable experience within a specialist setting that prioritises therapeutic education, safeguarding, and inclusive practice. You will develop key skills in behaviour support, emotional development, and trauma-informed approaches.
