Design & Technology Technician - Reading
A well-resourced and ambitious secondary school in Reading is seeking a reliable, skilled, and proactive Design & Technology (DT) Technician to support their successful DT department. This is a full-time, permanent role starting ASAP, offering the opportunity to work in a creative, practical, and collaborative environment.
About the Role
As a DT Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring that practical DT lessons run smoothly. You will prepare materials, maintain equipment, and support teaching staff and students during lessons. Your role will also include monitoring stock, assisting with administrative tasks, and maintaining a safe, organised workshop environment.
The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach, strong organisational skills, and a good understanding of workshop tools, materials, and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
• Preparing tools, materials, and equipment for practical lessons
• Setting up and clearing DT workshops efficiently
• Supporting teachers and students during practical sessions
• Maintaining and organising equipment, machinery, and storage areas
• Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering materials
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
• Assisting with departmental projects, displays, and competitions

Experience and Qualifications
• Previous experience as a DT Technician or in a practical support role desirable

• Proactive, reliable, and flexible approach
• Legal right to work in the UK
Salary
