About The Role
We are looking for a Group Head of Tax & Treasury to join our Central Service Team!
Practice Plus Group is the UK’s leading independent provider of NHS services to patients in Secure Environments – prisons, immigration removal centres (IRCs) and non-custodial services, and Integrated Urgent Care - NHS 111, Out-of-Hours (OOH) and Clinical Assessment Centres (CAS).
Hours: This is a full time role. 37.5 hours per week, working Monday - Friday.Part time applications will be considered (4 days per week) Location: Hybrid role with minimum one day a week in Practice Plus Group Head Office in Theale, Reading (Tuesday) Contract: This role is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract Salary: To be discussed

What you'll be doing
This is a standalone role suitable for someone who is comfortable working independently and is both strategic and compliance focused in nature. The successful candidate will be fully responsible for managing all group tax affairs, including Compliance, Governance and Strategy. They will be required to support the business through future transaction activity so previous M&A experience including due diligence and structuring is essential.
The role also encompasses an element of treasury responsibilities, primarily in respect of bank reporting and covenant management. As the treasury responsibilities comprise only c20% of the role candidates without prior treasury experience but willing to learn will still be considered.
As our new Group Head of Tax & Treasury, some of your duties will include:- Managing group effective tax rate - reviewing, proposing and implementing tax planning opportunities to reduce corporate tax rate, minimise indirect taxes and reduce risk to the Group
- HMRC relationship – first point of contact, Business Risk Review, Enquiries etc
- Ensuring the Group meets and maintains all compliance requirements across all the relevant taxes; SAO, CCO, corporation tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing and employment taxes.
- Overseeing and reviewing UK VAT compliance and advisory projects. As the majority of the Group’s services are exempt, experience of partial exemption is essential.

As our new Group Head of Tax & Treasury , you will:- Be educated to degree level or equivalent , ideally a qualified tax accountant or chartered tax adviser, with a breadth of experience across the tax and treasury functions.
- Have significant tax experience gained within industry , with the tax aspects of the role being circa 80% of the total. Treasury experience is desirable but not essential given that this is a smaller part of the role.
- Be able to appreciate the diversity and complexity of the business , and the different environments and business models through which Practice Plus Group’s Health & Justice and Integrated urgent Care divisions operate.
- Be capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines and have a good attention to detail
- Have prior experience in Health Care , NHS or organisations involved in regulated, large, complex, multi-site outsourcing arrangement’s an advantage.
